INTERPARLIAMENTARY ORGANIZATIONS

Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)

The Inter-Parliamentary Union, founded in 1889, is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and has 178 member parliaments and 12 associate members. It holds two Ordinary Assemblies annually (in March and October), during which meetings of its Committees and Geopolitical Groups are also held. Argentina belongs to the Geopolitical Group for Latin America and the Caribbean ( GruLaC ). For more information about the IPU, click here .

Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (EuroLat)

Created in 2006, EuroLat is the parliamentary body of the Bi-regional Strategic Partnership, established in June 1999 within the framework of the EU-LAC Summits (between the European Union, Latin America, and the Caribbean). EuroLat is composed of 150 members, 75 of whom are members of the European Parliament, while the remaining 75 make up the Latin American component—legislators from the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino), the Andean Parliament (Parlandino), the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), and the MERCOSUR Parliament (Parlasur). ParlAméricas

In 2001, the Interparliamentary Forum of the Americas (FIPA) was created, which would later become ParlAméricas, following the new Regulations promulgated on October 1, 2013. ParlAméricas is the only hemispheric parliamentary organization, with the participation of legislative bodies from all the countries of the continent. The Plenary Assembly is held annually in one of the member countries. ParlAméricas also maintains three permanent axes of action: 1. Gender Equality , 2. Open Parliament , and 3. Climate Change . The HCDN actively participates in these activities. The current President of the Parliamentary Network for Gender Equality (RPIG) is National Representative Karina Banfi, elected during the 9th Meeting of the Group of Women Parliamentarians held between May 22 and 24, 2017, in the City of Buenos Aires.

Parliamentary Confederation of the Americas (COPA)

COPA is a forum for the Parliamentary Assemblies of the States, Regional Parliaments, and Interparliamentary Organizations of the Americas. Based on the Summits of the Americas and the Conference on the Challenges of Democracy and Development (1997) held in the National Assembly of Quebec City, Canada, it is composed of a General Assembly, an Executive Committee, the Network of Women Parliamentarians, six Permanent Thematic Working Committees, and three secretariats located in Mexico, Brazil, and Quebec City. Latin American Parliament (Parlatino)

The Latin American Parliament is a permanent, unicameral regional body composed of the National Parliaments of Latin America and the Caribbean, whose countries signed its formation in 1987 in Lima, Peru. The Assembly meets annually at its headquarters in Panama City, Panama, while the 13 Permanent Committees hold regular meetings at least twice a year. The official Delegation of the HCDN to the Parlatino is made up of 13 National Deputies, each of whom serves on one of the Permanent Committees. The HCDN also currently appoints the Vice President of the Parlatino for the Argentine Republic. For more information about this organization, click here .
